Turkey stew with meatballs

stew meatballsThis stew can also be made with chicken or you can add pork chop.

I added mushrooms and potatoes, but not required.

Level: MED

Serves: 6

  •  1 kg. turkey meat cut into pieces or 1 chicken cut into pieces.
  • 400 gr. lean minced pork.
  • 2 onions.
  • 4 garlic cloves, chopped.
  • 2 peeled and chopped tomatoes.
  • 25 gr. toasted almonds.
  • 2 eggs.
  • 1 bay leaf.
  • ½ TBS chopped marjoram.
  • 1 TBS finely chopped parsley.
  • Olive oil.
  • Flour.
  • Salt and pepper.

To make the meatballs mix in a bowl lean minced pork, 2 garlic cloves, eggs, marjoram, parsley, salt, pepper and half onion sauté in olive oil. Give form to meatballs, roughly the size of a walnut, flour meatballs and fry in olive oil. Keep on a plate.

Season the turkey or chicken and pork, fry in olive oil and reserve in a saucepan. In the same pan sauté garlic and onion until tender, add tomatoes and bay leaf, cook about 5 minutes, add to the saucepan with the meat, cover with water and cook. When the meat is almost cooked add meatballs.

Chop the almonds in a mortar and add some broth from the pan and add the stew, cook 10 minutes and remove from heat.
